It holds the same pasteurized horse manure-based substrate and sterilized peat casing that come in the XL kit, sized for a full GordoTEK tote. 9 lbs of manure-based substrate in three 3 lb bags plus 5 lbs of casing. Everything for one full XL tote, with casing left over.

Running the refill
Same steps as the first grow. Spawn isn't included, so start three 32 oz 5-grain jars a couple of weeks ahead. GordoTEK's Easy Tek page has the full method and video.
1Spawn to substrate
Mix your colonized grain into the three bags of substrate in the clean grow tote and pat it smooth.
2Back on the bath
Float the tote on the warm water bath in the low 80s °F with the lid closed until it is fully colonized.
3Thin casing
Sprinkle about 1/4" of casing evenly across the surface and spray it down.
4Screen and mist
Screen on, mist three times a day, and set the lid at an angle with two corners open.

FAQ
What's in the Complete Refill?
9 lbs of horse manure-based substrate in three 3 lb vacuum-sealed bags, plus a 5 lb bag of sterilized peat moss and vermiculite casing.
Does the refill include grain spawn?
No. Use three 32 oz 5-grain jars (sold as a 3-pack) for a full XL tote, inoculated with 3–4cc of spores or 5–7cc of liquid culture per jar.
Is the substrate sterilized or pasteurized?
The manure substrate is pasteurized at 160°F for 3–4 hours, the same way as our Willy's Blend. The casing is fully sterilized, the same way as our Master's Mix bags.
How many grows does the casing cover?
GordoTEK's casing layer is thin, about 1/4", so the 5 lb bag covers more than one tote. That's why there's a Substrate-only option for the grows in between.
Will it work without the XL kit?
Yes. It's sized for a pair of 41 qt low-profile totes, but you can use it in any GordoTEK-style tote or tray grow.
Can this refill be used for Panaeolus cyanescens (formerly Copelandia cyanescens)?
Technically, yes: GordoTEK built this method around the warm, high-fresh-air, cased conditions that grassland and dung-loving species need. We sell it for lawful cultivation only, so check your local laws and regulations before growing any species.
