I was skeptical when my kit first came in. I wasn't sure if I had enough equipment to grow full mushrooms. Now that I have had great results with this simple kit, I realize that this company is not a joke. All that I had to do was to place my colonized mycelium cakes on top of the damp perlite mixed with a little water and, they began growing mushies within 5 days with the correct heat in the room. Thank you midwestgrowkits!!!

Very satisfied. Package delivered fast. Fair price. Clear instructions. Followed the instructions and everything worked very well. Less than 4 weeks in, my cakes are fruiting. Very happy! Will buy again.

I got this kit as a birthday present for my mom, and she's very excited to get growing. We haven't set it all up yet, but it seems to be very simple and thorough to set up. The only thing I'm knocking a star off for is that the product pages and confirmation emails don't make it clear that Midwest Grow Kits does not sell the spores. (Maybe I should have known this given that the kit doesn't say anything about species, but I wasn't looking for what's missing) After the package arrive - in a very timely manner and packaged well - I had to go to the FAQ to learn where to get spores.

Otherwise, I'm happy with all of it, and I'll order from here again when we need to restock supplies!

Just a quick note. I wanted to share this. Midwest has not updated their photos on the site. I thought I was missing my thermometer/humidity gauge and finally discovered it in a little white box inside the bag with the gloves and alcohol swabs. I received a mini digital thermometer/humidity gauge instead of the one pictured. I called them to ask about this and they told me they have upgraded this kit to a digital gauge but have not updated the pictures on this site yet. Another note, while the lights that come with the kit are fine, I would suggest using a lamp or some type of plug in light to save yourself batteries.
