Quality product that makes life simple less chance of contamination. They have all the kits for phase 2 when bags are ready. Purchase latter when the time comes in a month or so.
Spawn bags came quicker in the mail. They were a lb heavier of all grain vs the other all in one bags with grain, straw, and casing. I inoculated Midwest bags a week later with leftover liquid used on other brand and have mycelieum on several Midwest spawn. Still none on the earlier all in one bags. I need to dial in my game after 10 years on the sidelines, but enough experience and early results to decide a clear winner between the two companies * If my game was tighter I would name the other outfit, but not gonna call them out on a wobbly , non linear competition.
Choose the right spore company!!! I want to share my recent experience with MidwestGrowKits, but buyer beware on getting good spores these days. I always use Mushrooms.com (the old Hawkeye Spores) and never had an issue. I decided this time to buy 1 syringe from Sporeworks.com based on lots of good reviews. I had one old syringe left from 9 months ago from Mushrooms.com. I ordered 2 bags of Rye and 2 bags of 5grain spawn bags from Midwest. They arrived super fast and I injected both sets of bags the same day under the same sterile conditions and to make it fair I used one Rye and 1 5grain bag per syringe. Both bags from Sporeworks turned to wet mush after 10 days, smelled like sour garbage and both bags from Mushrooms.com (same strain) are doing great. I first wanted to blame Midwest, which others told me it was bad bags, but doing more research I’ve talked to many others that have experienced bacteria slime after using spores from Sporeworks. I can’t understand how night and day difference the bags are... I want to apologize for my initial review, I have repeated this twice now and can’t get over why I got no growth from Sporeworks. Maybe a bad syringe? I don’t know. All I can say is be careful with bacteria ridden syringes. I also heard that all these spore companies are super busy and I think much more are being sent out contaminated than prior years. Thanks Midwest for all your help and I apologize for bugging you guys so much! Awesome bags and grain Jars!
