A Tyvek wide mouth synthetic filter disk with injection port is a type of filter that is used in mycology and mushroom cultivation. It is typically made of Tyvek, a high-density polyethylene material, and is designed to fit onto the opening of a wide-mouth jar. The filter disk features a small injection port, usually made of silicone, which allows for the injection of liquid culture or spores into the jar while still maintaining an air-tight seal. The synthetic material of the filter disk provides a high level of filtration, preventing contamination from outside sources while allowing for gas exchange and proper air flow within the jar for the growth of mycelium.

Package contains 6 filter discs with self-healing ports

    • inexpensive protection for your myocilin
    Cons:
These are so much easier to use. In conjunction with the 5 grain jars, No intrusions of contamination. Keep your needle hot, use with u/v light alcohol wipes and your favorite inoculation method, And rest easier knowing your jars are safe.

My homemade jars always took off in the initial stage and slowed down and or stopped later on. It was very frustrating, I was following directions to the "T" and it wasn't working. I began to think that air exchange could be the culprit as it was the only thing left to consider. I bought these counting on them to allow more air exchange and boy did they do the trick. I use these as the lid on the jars and nothing else. It's great to see the jars growing at the same pace through out the incubation process. With the self healing port I don't even use a box for sterility. I wipe the syringe down with alcohol and heat the needle. I wipe the injection port with alcohol prior to inserting the needle and make sure that I have an alcohol swab on the port as I remove it. How much easier could it be!
