I haven't successfully gotten from syringe to fruiting yet, having some trouble maintaining sterility using Low Tek methods I wanted to go ahead and review though because of how incredibly robust this strain is. I set up two spawn jars, one with enriched sawdust for my shiitake culture & the other with grain for the lions mane. Lacking a pressure cooker or autoclave, I did the week long sterilization method for wheat berries that was recommended on the Mycology forums for Low Tek. It was advised that the results would be finicky at best and to try it with a vigorous mushroom like Oyster or Lions Mane. After a few weeks I had become disheartened to see that some foreign mold had invaded the Lions Mane grain spawn jar. I shrugged and resolved to try again with the other half of the syringe that I had kept in the fridge. We're now at just over a month since I innoculated the jars, and I was planning to just toss the contaminated grain into my compost & try again after getting a pressure cooker. To my utter shock, the Lions Mane mycelium has fully established itself in the jar! There's still too much contaminant for me to trust it to make a fruiting block with, but I have hopes that its established enough to make some decent fruits in my compost pile! Can't wait to try again :)
