Pros:
  • Quick germination
  • Very nice straight sided jars
  • awesome grain mix
  • Lab grade filter/port
Cons:
I want to leave a quick review and thank Midwest for sending these for testing! I've been a huge fan of the 24oz jars and was glad to see a larger version. My first impressions are they use a 1-piece lid and new filter patch and injection port, both appear to be lab quality. I injected 2 jars with a liquid culture I had stored in the fridge and 2 jars with spore syringe from Sporeworks. Inoculation was simple as it should be. I always squirt the spores/LC toward the side so they run down the glass and contact as much grain as possible. I am sitting on day 12 right now and the LC jars are about 75% colonized and the Spore jars are 30-35% colonized! I really like this new grain mix, no corn and perfect moisture content! Awesome job finding these jars during the Ball/Kerr Jar shortage! I'm a fan already!

Cons:
Ive had these for 7 days now and injected with 3cc's of spores 6 days ago and i am seeing huge patches of mycellium growing in all different spots already! I can tell these are going to be great! I made my own jars with oats and nothing happening yet with mine.. I may be back sooner than I thought for more!

Pros:
  • Easy to inoculate.
  • No contamination
Cons:
  • Little more grain than I like..
  • Little long to colonize.
I was a little skeptical with so much grain in one place but that thing is colonizing like lightning. Put some Costa Rica culture in there and it is consuming the grain. Fantastic product. Perfect for the purpose.
